Winter is coming: Is Europe ready for it?

The unexpected events in Europe have resulted in an energy crisis of sorts but the biggest fear is the winter that is around the corner. Is Europe ready for it? Matthew Myers an energy specialist joins me to share his perspectives on the current situation.

Key topics:

  • The energy price rise in Europe
  • Natural gas situation in UK and Europe
  • Demand side measures for the winter
  • The importance of thermostats
  • The economics of heat pumps

EU ”Save gas for a safe winter” Plan

The Plan therefore proposes a voluntary gas demand reduction target of 15% from 1 August 2022 to 31 March 2023. More info.

Having more efficient heating systems can reduce demand. Heat-pumps are increasingly turning out to be a viable option. More about Matt’s work in heat pumps and distributed generation – here.
