UK’s 10 point plan for a green industrial revolution

UK set the ball rolling for countries to commit to a transition towards a zero carbon economy. Recently UK announced the 10 point plan for a green industrial revolution, the first major piece of strategy providing a context of what it intends to achieve across sectors.

On this episode, Dr David Reiner, a political scientist and a senior lecturer at the Judge Business School in the University of Cambridge joins me to discuss the UK’s energy policy, its priorities as it transitions to a net zero economy, the new 10 point action plan, E-Mobility, its strategies in Carbon Capture and storage, the upcoming COP26 and a lot more.

The 10 point plan for a green industrial revolution is a good start, is a good first down payment but we need more such acts going forward. but will it be enough to match the scale of effort required to address the impact of climate change? Well, maybe or maybe not only time and the details in the plan for each individual sectors which is expected to come up over the next couple of years will give a clear picture of the progress.

Dr Reiner is a political scientist and is currently University Senior Lecturer in Technology Policy at Cambridge Judge Business School. David has advised government, industry and non-governmental organisations on energy and environmental policy, with a particular emphasis on the politics of climate change and the social acceptability of carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) and other energy technologies including smart meters and shale gas. He is frequently interviewed in national and international media including the BBC World Service, The New York TimesInternational Herald Tribune, Bloomberg, Reuters, The Guardian and The Daily Telegraph.
